The 2019 U.S. individual income tax filing season was a procrastinator’s dream. We all got an extension of three months without even asking for it. Thanks, COVID-19!
I hope it doesn’t catch anyone off-guard to find out the extended deadline is today. Relax, you still have a few hours to request a real extension.
This year, I’m proud to say I beat the tax filing deadline by a whopping 34 hours, submitting our joint return online around 2 pm yesterday. I suppose if I were the glass-is-half-empty type, I might have said I missed the original deadline by a few hours short of 90 days.
I’ll spare you all the long tax-day rant from last year.
