For nearly fifteen years, I’ve been posting my travel tales, photos, and other random thoughts on this blog. Without a doubt, the past nine months of blogging have been the most challenging for me.
Between technical issues, most of which were of my own creation, external forces like the Facebook ban and internet censorship in general, and a lack of inspiring travels in the midst of the pandemic, I’ve spent a lot of time recently asking myself whether I should continue blogging at all.
After considerable soul-searching, I do believe my heart is still in blogging. However, I’ve also accepted that it’s time for me to let go of the fifteen years' worth of technical and creative baggage this blog carries with it.
As a result, I’m shutting down this blog in about ten days, around December 31, wiping the slate clean. I’m anticipating a hiatus of roughly one to three months, after which I’m planning to introduce a new blog, built from the ground up.
Longtime readers know I’ve renamed this blog a number of times in the past. In order to maintain a level of continuity, I’ve always redirected each prior domain name to the next one. I’m not going to do that this time. This post is a valediction.
If you’re a family member, close friend, or someone who frequently comments on this blog, I’ll send you a message with a link to the new blog when it goes online. If you’re not sure I have your e-mail address, please send it to me right away.
I’ll see you on the other side.
